Crysis 3 Released on Origin at Midnight the 19th

Crysis  and Crysis Warhead were amazing in their time it took monster PC’s to play them at full detail and had great gameplay to boot. As far as multiplayer goes I only played both Crysis 2 & 3 when they were in beta testing. I’m not much into the online multiplayer matches. Back 12 or so years I did play the hell out of Medal Of Honor Allied Assault online but since then I’ve lost interest in it.

Well I pre-Purchased Crysis 3 a few weeks prior to launch and got the original Crysis for doing so. Origin doesn’t offer any type of gifting for extra copies. Got stuck with a 2nd copy of original Crysis it didn’t go to waste asked my son if he wanted it that was a negative so gave the serial to a friend.

Most game reviewers are giving Crysis 3 an 8.0-9.0 ratings which is good most feel that Crysis 3 is more like Crysis 2.5 than 3. Claiming it’s just an extension of part 2 not a full on sequel. Since every game that is a sequel is pretty much more of the prior one it only makes sense this is so. As far as i’m concerned so far Crysis 3 is quite fun to play.

Graphics wise WOW! I was really surprised how awesome this game looks At full 1920×1080 4xAA & 16xAF it is a sight for all gamers to see it’s truly a huge step forward and should have a lot of developers wanting that same quality of detail. The opening of the game is Psycho running on a ship with a few other guys in the pouring rain to get Prophet. The way the rain falls and the way light refracts  is just amazing and When it zooms in on Psycho his expressions are so detailed you can see every pour in his face even his teeth looked ragged a bit from the hard living under Cells thumb.  I’ve played it on 360 just to see if there was a difference there IS! The console versions do not do Crysis 3 right.

Controls are pretty much the same from Crysis 2 only additions that I have noticed is now Suit upgrades are found not from alien DNA like Part 2. You can also Use your Binoculars to hack cameras and Turrets very handy when in stealth turning the turrets against the enemy is very useful. That was more gamplay add-ons than actual controls pretty much as I said controls aren’t any different from part 2.

The Bow is a welcome addition as well it makes stealth a lot more stealthy for one when you shoot it your nano suit doesn’t drop energy and make you visible like when you shoot a gun. I love that I can sneak and take out guards silently then until only a few are left which makes it manageable to be Rambo at that point.

If you haven’t played Crysis, Crysis Warhead or Crysis 2 play those first it’s worth it the first 2 games are amazing. Play these on a PC if you can the console versions DO Crysis no justice. You can check your hardware specs to any game available at

PC upgrade after 4 long, long years.

Used to upgrade my PC hardware every other year to keep up with most current hardware at that time. But soon realized it was quite costly and became a chore to upgrade . Well the time has finally came to upgrade sold my old hardware Mainboard , CPU, Memory and Video card.  8 GB of system memory a AMD Phenom II 2.8 ghz Quad CPU w/EVGA Super Super Clocked  560ti Video card.

I always buy the best video card I can because I like to game and also don’t like to have to upgrade my V-card every time a new game comes out. This year I was really stuck on deciding on which to get the Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Which is $289 compared to the  AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) @ $199.99. The Intel i7 did perform much, much better on single threaded processes compared to the AMD 8-core as a matter a fact it smeared the AMD by like 35-40%. And even the Intel i5 did better on single threaded processes. On Multi Threaded processes the AMD beat out the i5 and even Intel’s high end i7 on Multithreaded processes not every benchmark but quite a few.

I’m the kinda guy that roots for the villan in a movie always like the underdog in any situation. When it comes to AMD & Intel guess I feel the same way. Price /Performance  The AMD just seemed like a better deal to me so I went with the AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) @ $199.99 price point. I know the Intel was the better choice for a gaming machine but I’ve always liked AMD and still do guess i’m a AMD guy no matter what the benchmarks say.

Then memory was a whole other ordeal I purchased the ASUS 990 Mainboard for my setup its supports 4×240pin DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066   . I was 100% sure the 1866 was the best way to go I really don’t like O.C’ing my shit. But the cost for 16gb of 1866 was $99.99 and the 2133 memory was also $99.99 made by the same company G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series.  Said hell with it may as well roll with the 2133 clocked memory.

For the video card I went with EVGA I always buy their products because they used to give lifetime warranty’s with their Video cards now it’s only 3yrs still better than what most others offer. Went with the EVGA Superclocked,  Signature 2 ,GeForce GTX 680 2GB card. Love the Crysis series and already have Crysis 3 on pre-order through Origin:-).

Also decided it was time to buy a Blue-ray burner at $69.99 it was hard to pass up and i’m guessing in the next year most apps and especially games will be shipped on Blue-Ray a lot of today’s games already ship on more than 1 DVD. Hopefully within the next year or 2 it will start being used as often as my DVD+/-R Dual layer burner.

Ordered from good ole already got the video card just waiting for the rest of the parts. Hopefully will be on the new computer by next Wednesday.

Update 02/18/2013

I didn’t Mention much about the mainboard I purchased. Went with the ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990X SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS . This board is pretty awesome highly overclockable and is also my first board with  UEFI Bios. It’s pretty awesome I like it a lot supports mouse and even the scroll wheel in BIOS. I was so used to using the standard Legacy BIOS I was almost lost. I actually didn’t dig deep enough when I set it up and CPU was clocked at 4.5 Ghz and stock is 4.0. Using 1066 memory it was clocked at 1200 what amazes me more is the fact it was booting up and stable. Was OC’d way to much for a stock setup luckily this only was for a good part of a full day when I caught it.

For those who prefer gaming on a PC, Crysis 3 is due out tomorrow 02/19/2013. While Crysis and Crysis 2 were able to be digitally downloaded on Steam EA decided this was not so.:-( Shortly after Crysis2 release it was pulled form Steam so now Crysis can only be purchased digitally from EA’s Digital content manager named Origin. Can be downloaded at Check out Crysis 3 @

If you order before tomorrow the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition will get you the original Crysis for free.

If you go with Crysis 3 Digital Deluxe edition you get Crysis 1 & 2 free with pre-order. Gameplay is most important but Crysis has always been about graphics pushing the latest hardware so if you have a gaming PC that has Dual core CPU 4-gigs of memory and a 500 series GPU get the PC version even at minimum graphics setting  w/ 1680×1050 or higher resolution on PC it will look just as good if not better than on the consoles.

Crysis is my favorite FPS of all time for many years Unreal Tournament held that spot.
