Farcry 2 I played a bit of it a years back. Then re-purchased it again early this month from Steam for $2.50 something like that price range couldn’t pass it up. Being a fan of the original Farcry back in 2002-2004 that had a recommended system requirement of:
- Windows 2000
- Intel Pentium 4, 2 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 2 GHz
- 512 MB RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce4 128 MB or Ati Radeon 9500 128 MB
- Sound Blaster Audigy sound card
This was heavy requirements back then but it was a open space game on a Island where you only had your wits and whatever you could get your hands on to survive. It was a cool game and ahead of it’s time & the 1st of it’s kind.
Farcry 2 released in 2009 didn’t meet many of the fans expectations after Playing Farcry 1 and not to mention Crytek released Crysis 1 in November 2007 which again was open world on an island this time against alien invasion and sported absolutely insane graphics that still hold up even today “2012”. Although Farcry 2 is named after the original it wasn’t developed by crytek and did not use the latest Crytek engine that Crysis was using.
It instead was developed by Ubisoft Montreal & used Ubi created engine named “Dunia” while still an open world it is based in Africa not the exotic locations of some distant islands with beutiful mountains and sparkling water. It’s based in Central Africa where there are landscapes such as deserts, jungles, and savannas. It took me 3-4 trys at this game spread through 2-3 years and just a week or so back I actually began some what enjoying this game.
Graphically by todays standards it’s dated but it doesn’t dullen the experience at all it still holds up well and am enjoying the few jobs I have completed I am far from the end of this game and just have begun finding what the game offers.
While I don’t have a full opinion on this game at the moment. May have found a hidden gem that was tucked away in a game that I never gave much of a chance. If you are a gamer give this one a chance there is fun here don’t think of it as a direct sequel think of it as a whole new game.
Note: The Dunia engine was created by UBI specifically for Farcry 2.
Inversion a game recently released by Namco Bandai Games.
The controls are funky, graphics are so so and at first it seems so generic. This is another game that gamspot gave a 4.0 which is next to abysmal. Seriously everything about this game when I first picked it up screamed cheaaappp! GeneriCCC!!,Lame. But through the funky controls and straight up generic all about feeling with decent voice acting & a storyline that’s been done a million times in movies and games. I just haven’t been able to stop playing it. There is something here that is entertaining maybe it’s the already been done gravity changing effects or even the Gears of War like feeling you get when moving your character but I just keep playing lol.
I have to say I don’t know if I should recommend it or delete this part of my blog. All I can say is give it a try don’t quit the minute you start playing you may want to but keep going and see if you find yourself feeling the same way I do.
